The crest of Roháče, 14. 10. 200

This event arose from day to day. I returned home from under Kráľova hola where I caught gorgeous views of Low Tatras. So an idea crossed my mind, why not to make use of probably last Indian summer´s weekend. I waited for my brother had returned home and spoke some words. We came up with Roháče, we haven´t beer there yet.

I consulted the map and things went clear, Ostrý Roháč as a priority and besides another two 2000s, Volovec a Pálčivé. The objective was cast but what about our fellow. First, we only should have gone on our own but it failed. So we looked for some fellows. Since the ruffled, Ivka and Miro were still changing over their flat and our chauffeur, Jožko, had a work, I came across an idea to ring Kapo and Dolko. They impelled in the tavern that their´s no problem going hiking. I phoned them and no later we were two more. At work, I asked my collegue, Puka, if he didn´t feel like close his previous effort marred by the weather.
The start off at 5:30, 140km before us, three 2000m hills, and 140km back home. Except two misturns in the mist, all went according to the plan. We reached the Zverovka chalet roughly at 8:30 where we were to start and finish, too. Full of power we got dressed, packed and gulped shots down one leg, the other and of course the third leg as well. We set off along the yellow path through Látaná valley to Rákoň. We were in such a haste that we overlooked the turning to the Zábrať saddle which we found already when the yellow signs hadn´t signified the way. We weren´t surpriced since criss-cross goings are common with us. My fellows were in humor as well. After having returned to the saddle we enjoyed the gorgeous panoramas of West Tatras.
Dolko provided us a refreshment in the saddle who had brought gin of an untasted flavour. We reached easily the first touch with Slovak-Poland borders with only few halts. Then, we went on taking pictures, encountering chmoises, finally reaching The Volovec (2063m) and there we could see all our way.
Down below Jamnické saddle and above it stood Ostrý Roháč (2087m). The journey there took us about 45 minutes. Then, the infamous chains came which ment no obstacle for some which couldn´t be said about the Czechs. We had to help some of them all the way over Roháč, but what would you not do for a brother. The chains took us by surprise, too, but not stunned us.
We had a rest on the top, delighted in the views and set off for the last 2000m hill of the day, namely Pálčivá (2125m). We did it, and only the go down through the Sad saddle and via The Sad valley to the Ťatliaková chalet left before us. Some had looked forward to drinking a beer or more there, but it was broken up because of a makeover. So we had to last out another one and a quarter of an hour walk along an asphalty road to the yearned-for beer.
We didn´t even perceived the last ten minutes of the way to the car since we´d had nice 8 hour walk behind. Some final photos, a halt in Liptovský Mikuláš for a good coffee, tea and whoosh home via Čertovica.
In sum, 5:30 start out, 20:00 end, three 2000m hills made, 8 hour walk, 300km covered by car, 170 crowns spent on petrol, 26 on coffee, some calluses on heels, satisfaction in everyone taking part in general, perfectly exploited time, but chiefly nice memories of our West Tatras.
