HIKING

Rozsutec, 27th Dec 2006

We´d wanted to go into mountains between holidays, so we went into mountains between holidays. And not just any ones like it´s said in tales. Up onto one of the most tantalizing of all. So, on 27th Decmeber AD 2006, we, four overall, struck out in the direction of Terchová under Mount Rozsutec. Namely, me, Miro The Writing, Iva The Rozsutecpioneer, Peter The Otep, Mišo The Builderthattime.

At about 7:45 we´d parked in Štefanová and were setting out for a ravine imitating the beauties of Slovak Paradise. A stage where chiefly Peter capared about. Click here - click there and the card was full. It´s necessary to concede that some of the thousands turned out well. I was surprised how sluggish the passage through the Hole ravine was without snow. Two years ago, in January, with a normal distribution of snow, was the journey, downwards added to this, much more passable.

So we warmly welcomed when higher some snow began to apper. After a while, we were standing in the saddle and were mugging in front of the Little Rozsutec. Impressive photographes as ever. From here on the journey was much comfier than the year before last. Snow hardly got to snail´s balls. Mišo left us ashamed a bit which is certainly not my style in mountains, since he couldn´t afford to halt. When he stopped he felt like barfing even more like me now as I´m writing these lines. The North-west side of Rozsutec was agreeably covered by hoarfrost, almost like in winter.

No avalanches or Krtko´s cramps in thigh impended because of deep snow. Two hours had passed when Mišo was waving his hand to distance from the summit itself. It´s a nice kind of needle jutting out of the Rozsutec´ cone. Simply, a guy of premiere isn´t sure at first whether he is or isn´t on the very top. We got some summit pictures and I´d like to pause at the one with the inscription "Rozsutec 27.12. 2066"

- nice in essence but like Peťo had said, it´s coincidental. The sight of South-Eastern slopes was a gasser - sheer Spring. Even more impressive was the temperature during the descent down to a saddle under Mount Stoh. Here and there we wondered why we didn´t go just so with T-shirts on (27th December). We bypassed the top of Stoh and, in the saddle under Midday Grúň, Mišo and Peťo met their friend, Soňa from Žilina (hiiiiii, if u´re reading this). They leapfrogged each other several times so as to make out each other after all. So, in the style of The egg went wandering, we took on another fellow and descended to tha chalet under Grúň. There we concordantly had beers and repaired to the car park via a fatuous steep frozen terrain. The last obstacle was a derisory rill which both Iva and me checked. Why not, we were about to get in our heated up car.

We threw Soňa while driving in one of Žilina´s boulevards and now we´re wondering when we´ll encounter again.
