At last, Táňa s dreams, maybe ours, came true. The point was that she found herself in Tatras for the first time, whats more in High Tatras.
For the second time now, we crashed, pretty unbecomingly, into my parents hotel room which they had got last minute.
In brief, they had half of what they could have had, and we, Ivka The Mother, Táňa The Daughter and me, Miro The Writing, occupied the other room.
On a thirty year old sofa bed and coarse unpleasant rugs, we at first slept well and then we did not sleep at all. Six o clock at last.
The alarm is ringing and a trite but still wearing hike is expecting us.
By a fine blue drag, we went up to the TEZ station below Popradské Pleso. We compress the one and a half hour walk on the map to one hour and soon we catch first views of Vysoká, veiled though.
At the first glimpse of Rysy, we are sweat through and Táňa fully understands what is genuine Tatras hiking about. But so much expected chains
did not beguiled her that much. After a snap at the hut in a goodly wind we climbed up to the summit where the hurricane tries to throw us down.
On the top we were ass by ass but who would wonder. The weather was towardly, too. After a short eating halt we continue to descend and pass by about
15 thousand people, ha-ha-ha. Well, maybe the number was not as high.
...rrrrrrring. it is five already!? As first I made coffee. So a quick coffee, quick packing and right away shoo off from the hotel to Sliezsky dom.
Two map hours of walking ahead of us plus another two to Polish ridge and one more up to the summit of Eastern Vysoká. Below the
Innkeepers gutter we cast our minds back to our climb up to Gerlach, even Sliezsky dom got a nick, Schronisko Kaníkuly, at that spot.
The top we reached a bit earlier again. Four principal views arise from the summit. The western one towards Vysoká with Rysy, the southern to
Kvetnicová and Velická valley, the eastern to Big Cold valley encircled by the panorama of Slavkovský, Ladový and Lomnický peaks.
Climbing down, my phone call at 9:40 surprised my mum who with my dad and Táňa were only going to Strbské pleso at that time.
So we lengthened our hike to Starý Smokovec to withdraw some more money. Like in a romantic movie, we waited for my parents and
Táňa at the hotel station and went to pack our things quickly.
Quite a pleasurable weekend, Ivka observed in the end.
