Mount Marmot, 17th July 2010

Not long before Mišo was telling us about Mount Marmot. Not later than 2 weeks and we, Mišo The Cartogtrapher, Kate The Enthusiastic, Tanja The Intermediate, Ivka The Anxious and me, Miro The Writing are heading up the Great Cold Valley towards it.

There are several ascending paths varying from the easiest to the most strenuous. We choose the initial climb up it southern crest. Later we are bypassing a 20 meter high wall from the east. It was actually the hardest part with a very steep slope. A mix of grass and rocks is followed by an attractive almost closed very steep trough through which we ascend another 30 meters of altitude. A 200 meter talk leads to summit with a kind of metal pillar and a book. Nice views were damaged by oncoming storm. That is why we even did not drink the usual summit beer at 2,382 meters above sea level.
